I just did my first workout of 2017, and I think I may have pushed myself a little too far. No, I did not pass out or vomit all over the equipment. But I did get pretty light-headed and in hindsight walking both ways (2.7 miles) to the gym itself was a poor decision given that I haven’t worked out ‘properly’ since late October.
At the gym I managed 30 minutes of medium incline on the treadmill (I don’t run/jog) and 20 minutes of medium resistance cross-trainer, which I felt went very well. Where it all started to fall apart was half way through my walk home. My legs started to feel heavy and I went light headed, I found myself needing to sit down or stand still every so often. Fortunately I managed to get home without any incidents.
The odd part was as that final walk went on, I gradually found myself craving bananas. I ate one once I got home. The weird part is I don’t even like bananas! Bodies are strange, strange things! Needless to say, I think I’ll drive myself to and from the gym next time. 🙂
