First workout of 2017

Posted on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2017 at 3:34 pm

I just did my first workout of 2017, and I think I may have pushed myself a little too far. No, I did not pass out or vomit all over the equipment. But I did get pretty light-headed and in hindsight walking both ways (2.7 miles) to the gym itself was a poor decision given that I haven’t worked out ‘properly’ since late October.

Happy new year!

Posted on Sunday, January 1st, 2017 at 9:36 pm

2016 is finally out of the way and we’re now in 2017. Do you know what this means? Yep, another generic New Year’s Resolution post! I’ve never been particularly great at keeping New Year’s Resolutions, but I’m going to try my hardest this year (you’ve probably heard that one before, hiyooooo!). So, how do I plan to to improve myself this year? Here it goes!

Rebooked

Posted on Friday, December 23rd, 2016 at 8:42 pm

I received a phone call from the hospital this afternoon. I have been penciled in for my gallbladder removal operation for the 25th January!

Unfortunately due to ongoing issues with my wrist, I have lapsed in all gym activity and I have been eating a bit more recently so I’ve put on a little bit of weight. I’m going to attempt to cut this down a little bit before the big day. From my discussion with the Nurse at my last pre-assessment, the kind of weight I am now is not as much of a factor as it used to be, but I’d like to reduce my weight to avoid complications. This means I will not be able to feast as hard as I wanted to this Christmas. Ho-hum, I guess there’s always next year, at least I won’t be at constant risk of gallstone attacks!

Joining the darkside

Posted on Friday, December 23rd, 2016 at 12:14 am

Christmas is gradually creeping up upon us, and I’ve already bought myself a present! This year I bought myself an iPad Pro (9.7) as I was in the market for a new tablet. Despite previously being an IOS hater I have been pleasantly surprised by my experience so far.

Saturday night wrist

Posted on Friday, December 16th, 2016 at 9:13 pm

For the past few months I’ve been feeling an intermittent pain in my left wrist. It has ranged from meh-ishly irritating to agonising, with the latter state being the most frequent in recent weeks. I originally saw my GP about this problem three weeks ago, but unfortunately it was on one of my better days – this made it significantly difficult to pin point the source as previously the pain I had experienced was coming from upwards of three places. My GP prescribed my some ibuprofen gel, advised me to exercise my hand with a stress ball and sent my on my way. No problem…

The .blog domain officially went live at some point yesterday and now I am the proud owner of peejay.blog and peejays.blog. At some point, these domains should point back here, but when, I don’t know. Good stuff, eh? Continue Reading

Overwatch: Sombra and Promoooooted!

Posted on Wednesday, November 16th, 2016 at 1:42 am

On the night that Sombra was finally unleashed on the Overwatch world I finally managed rank up to Platinum! After weeks of going up and down in score (doing as badly as the low-2100s) I finally managed to have a little luck. This was largely thanks to my 3-man group and the great teams we were matched up with this evening. Another factor in my opinion was Sombra herself! Continue Reading

Battlefield 1 Funsies

Posted on Sunday, October 30th, 2016 at 2:21 pm

For the first time in all the years of playing ‘proper’ Battlefield games (I don’t count Hard-line *spits*), I did not pre-order Battlefield 1. This is a fact I’m proud of as I normally get ‘need it NOW‘ syndrome around the time of the game’s release. The reason for this was something didn’t quite click with me in the beta that was released last month. Don’t get me wrong, it was Battlefield through and through, but I just didn’t enjoy it quite as much. I think Overwatch may have numbed me somewhat to more realistic first person shooters.

This is… different

Posted on Friday, September 23rd, 2016 at 4:39 pm

It may sound a little sad, but for the very first time in my 30-something years on this planet I have finally gone away by myself. Completely alone, no friends and no family present! As I write this I am currently sitting in a hotel room in Algate, London. I’m here for the next four nights as I will be attending a photography workshop a few miles away from here. Continue Reading

Overwatch: Thoughts of a Mercy player

Posted on Saturday, August 27th, 2016 at 1:54 pm

I’ve been hooked on Overwatch ever since it was released back in May. During that time, I have switched characters a few times and have worked out which character is the best fit for me. At the moment I alternate between D.Va (Tank) and Mercy (Support), with the latter being the most common choice for me. Unfortunately, after a few buffs and nerfs across the board Mercy isn’t chosen for support quite as often as others. Despite this I continue to persevere, much to the dismay of others.
